Stress Factors in Hatchery Environment
The tiny, fragile larvae of shrimp are extremely prone to stress factors. Water quality parameters that influence the metamorphosis and health of crustacean larvae, such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and ammonia fluctuate widely. Toxic metabolites such as ammonia, nitrite and sulfites accumulate in the tanks as the larvae grow. Hatchery practices like water exchange, crowding, transferring and handling introduce microbial pathogens into the culture systems. When unfavorable environmental factors combine with microbial pathogens, the result is stress that leads to poor growth, weak larvae, disease and mortality.
DESCRIPTION
Efinol L is a combination of microbial additives and selected nutrients for use in shrimp, fish and reptilian hatcheries. This combination has been scientifically shown to counteract the stressful conditions of hatcheries and larval transport and improve health and survival of aquatic animal larvae.
FEATURES
Efinol L is an ideal combination of proven bacteria and yeasts and selected nutrients that work synergistically to promote larval and post-larval health and performance in hatcheries.
Efinol L is easy-to-use. It can be readily mixed directly into the larval tanks or transportation bags.
Efinol L is compatible with probiotics and medications used in hatcheries.
BENEFITS
Efinol L helps to reduce stress and improve survival rates.
Efinol L is highly effective under conditions of stress such as temperature changes, salinity changes and transport.
Efinol L helps to produce stronger and healthier larvae and post-larvae .
Efinol L is convenient, safe, non-toxic and economical in use.
CAUTION
Efinol L may interfere with algal growth. It is recommended that Efinol â L be not used at larval life stages that depend on live algal feeding. Instead, use Efinol â EL , which has been specifically designed not to interfere with algal growth.
COMPOSITION
Efinol L is composed of beneficial microbes like
Bacillus subtilis
Bacillus licheniformis
Lactobacillus acidophilus
Saccharomyces cerevisiae
along with selected amino acids, vitamins, minerals, free- flow and anti-caking agents.
APPLICATION & USAGE RATES
Efinol® EL is recommended for use directly in water. There is no need to pre-treat the product before application.

***Example:
Volume of water in tank: 10 tons
Life stage of shrimp: PL10
Efinol® L usage rate: 8g/ton water/day
Amount of Efinol® L per day = 10 tons x 8 g/ton = 80 g
To be added once a day at first feeding after water exchange.
APPEARANCE
Efinol® L is off-white to tan colored free flowing powder, with a bland odor. Change in product color does not affect product performance.
STABILITY
Efinol® L is stable for 12 months from the date of manufacture.
STORAGE
Efinol® L should be stored in a cool dry place away from sunlight. Keep the container closed when not in use.
PRESENTATION
Efinol® L is available in 500 g pouches.
COMPATIBILITY
Efinol® L is compatible for use with all commonly used additives in hatcheries except live algae.
